Litchfield & Madison Railroad Historical Society
The Litchfield & Madison Railroad was an interesting and important 44-mile bridge line serving the Chicago & North Western Railway, the Illinois Central Railroad, and the Nickel Plate Road. It was located on the east side of the Mississippi River in Central Illinois, and was a vital connection to the St. Louis Gateway at East St. Louis, IL.

Please enter or display your L&M models at your local train shows and spread the good word about our new society! We were at the St. Louis Railroad Prototype Modelers (RPM) Meet, held on 25 & 26 August, 2006, at the Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville, IL.

On May 14, 2005, a small group of interested parties met at Cleveland State University (CSU) and formed a new rail society dedicated to the Litchfield & Madison Railroad (L&M). The Litchfield & Madison Historical Society is open to anyone with an interest in the L&M, or who would like to learn more about this fascinating railroad and its connections with its parent roads.
To commemorate the formation of the Society, Buffalo Creek Graphics has released a set of three cars as were used to serve the coal mining industry. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these cars will be donated to the Litchfield & Madison Railroad Historical Society. .....More about Illinois coal.

Order: Litchfield & Madison 50-Ton, 2-bay, coal hopper cars in O scale
